Unwind deeply with Traditional Thai Massage
Reconnect with the stiff, neglected parts of your body and explore safe ranges of motion.

Grounded, personalized bodywork that feels luxurious
Do you treat your devices better than your body?
Most of us get routine updates on our devices, or get oil changes for our cars ever few months. Our bodies are the single most important machinery we will own and operate in our lifetime, and yet we often leave the wear and tear is unaddressed until a major illness or injury.
At Root & Range, bodywork isn’t just a treat for the senses, although it feels amazing. We believe bodywork is what a car tune-up is to a vehicle. Here is what to expect during a session:

Joint mobilization
We not only stretches tight muscles, but also use traditional Thai bodyweight techniques to safely engage the joints and ligaments to create more space and greater ranges of motion, helping you move more pain-free in everyday life.
Rhythmic compression
Thai massage is delivered through rhythmic, compressive movements that allow your nervous system to settle into a restful state. If you have trouble quieting your mind and regularly neglect bodily sensations, this immersive experience is for you.
Holistic accupressure
We work through the body’s energy lines, known as Sen lines in Thai medicine, by tracing the routes of tension from feet to core to crown. In modern fascial research, these routes most closely translate to myofascial lines. The result is a deeply restorative and holistic reset for the body.
FAQ
I’m new to Thai massage, what do I book?
Thai massages for 45, 60, 75, 90min on a floor mat or table, your choice! For those new to Thai massage, it’s recommended to start with a 60min session and see how your body responds to the modality. For bodies holding a lot of tension and seeking a deep release, a 90min session is recommended.
Where do you practice?
I practice out of my home studio in Barrhaven, Nepean located less than 10 minutes away from Barrhaven Town Centre. I am also available to be booked outdoors from mid-May to mid-September. Contact me to inquire!
Will I need to undress?
No, Thai massage is practiced fully clothed. It is recommended to come dressed in comfortable and non-restrictive material, such as clothing you would wear at home or while exercising.
I’m too stiff and/or have injuries, will Thai massage do more harm?
As a former athlete who struggled with injuries and received massages where the therapist aggravated them further, I make it a priority to understand your history of injuries, pain and adjust to your body’s biomechanics and tolerance. While Thai massage favours deep work, there is a difference between good pain and injury-exacerbating pain, and part of being a skilled bodyworker is listening and collaborating with you to help your body get the most out of a session.

Hi, I’m Hannah. I work with people who forget to tend to their bodies.
Chinese medicine roots
I come from a Chinese family where caring for family members took the form of giving massages. After long days, I would perch atop the backs of my elders and trace the knots in their backs. I remember our apartment was filled with the smell of Chinese medicine and posters of acupuncture diagrams. As my small fingers palpated her sore back, my grandmother mumbled the names of acupressure points. Being literate with touch was as necessary and mundane as learning to communicate in sentences. These cultural roots informed the philosophy of my practice.
Martial arts and healing arts
In my mid 20s, I had a dream of becoming a Muay Thai fighter in Thailand. For a while, I lived at the gym and trained twice a day, six days a week. Massage once again entered my life as a ritual. I lived by a Thai massage clinic where skillful women worked on me after training. Regular bodywork helped me train through a chronic hip instability. I was no stranger to massage, but while watching the Thai therapists work, I was fascinated by body mechanics that mirrored martial arts. After my last Muay Thai fight in 2019, I sought out the teacher who trained the best therapists at the clinic and began my training in Thai massage in Chiang Mai.
Chronic illness research to community care
2020 brought the pandemic and I was unfortunate enough to get infected on a long flight. I dragged myself in and out of the ER and struggled to do much with my body for an extended period of time due to infection associated chronic illness. During this time, I delved deep into Long COVID research as a co-founder of the Patient-Led Research Collaborative and co-authored nearly 20 papers between 2021 and 2026. When my body was finally ready to take part in regular movement, I was held back by old injuries, scar tissue and immobile joints. I turned to my Thai massage training to help my body slowly unwind and transition into an active lifestyle. I started helping people in the community feel more resilient their body and get back on their feet too.
Root & Range is grounded in the traditional medicine of our roots, and celebrates our body’s capacity to experience a greater range or movement, life and joy with the right support.
